Three boys arrested after Redhill fire causes damage to Tesco and flats

Young suspects released on bail pending further inquiries

Three boys have been arrested after a fire caused extensive damage at a supermarket in Redhill that spread to nearby vehicles and residential flats.

Surrey Police say the fire was reported at 9:40pm on Friday (26 June) at Tesco Express, Canalside when flames erupted in the bin stores located at the rear of the shop.

Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries have been reported.

Following an investigation by officers, three boys aged 11, 13 and 14 have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

These young individuals have been released on conditional police bail while inquiries continue.

The bail conditions include a curfew and restrictions on their association with one another.

Officers are appealing for information from the public.

Witnesses or anyone with footage from the area at the time of the incident are encouraged to come forward.
