Police appeal for witnesses after crash leaves one dead and five in hospital near New Alresford

The crash involved three vehicles and left two people in a life-threatening condition

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash on Bishop’s Sutton Road near New Alresford.

The collision, which involved a Chevrolet Captiva, a Ford Mondeo, and a Honda Civic, occurred between Bishop’s Sutton Road and Whitehill Lane at 12.44pm on 27th December.

Emergency services attended the scene to provide treatment, along with members of the public who provided first aid. Despite the efforts of those at the scene, a 34-year-old man from Chichester was pronounced dead. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Five other people involved in the crash were transported to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance or air ambulance.

Two of the individuals, a man in his 70s and a woman in her 60s, are in a life-threatening condition.

Three others, including a woman in her 30s, a man in his 30s, and a five-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries but are reported to be stable.

Sergeant Spencer Wragg, from Hampshire Roads Policing Unit, thanked members of the public who assisted at the scene of the crash.

“Our officers were supported by fire and ambulance colleagues, including air ambulances,” Sergeant Wragg said. “I would also like to thank them for their assistance.”
