Ex-Met PC put cameras in bathroom to watch child in Egham
Lee Hargrave, 49, has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life after admitting to voyeurism and making indecent images of a child
A former Metropolitan Police officer has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life after admitting to voyeurism and making indecent images of a child in Egham.
Lee Hargrave, 49, pleaded guilty to charges relating to an investigation in 2023. Evidence showed he had installed a camera in the bedroom and bathroom of the victim, who was between 12 and 15 years old at the time. Hargrave recorded indecent images and footage of the child.
At Guildford Crown Court on Wednesday 2 July, Hargrave was sentenced to 13 months in prison for voyeurism and three months for making indecent images of children. Both prison terms were suspended for two years. He was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 10 years and an indefinite Restraining Order protecting the victim and her family.
Hargrave resigned from the Metropolitan Police in August 2024. An earlier misconduct hearing that month concluded he would have been dismissed without notice if still serving. He has also been added to the Barred List, preventing him from working in any police or related public safety roles.
Detective Inspector Emma Clarke said, “We take all allegations of this nature seriously and are committed to protecting children and vulnerable people.”
