Children and young people across Surrey are set to receive improved mental health support through faster and more integrated care, as the Mindworks Surrey service implements a shared NHS patient record system.

Mindworks Surrey, a collaboration between the NHS and charities such as Barnardo's, the National Autistic Society, and the Surrey Wellbeing Partnership, offers emotional wellbeing and mental health services for young people in the region.

The introduction of a shared patient record allows over 225 professionals within the partnership access to unified information about those they support.

This approach will aim to reduce the requirement for families to repeatedly share their stories when transitioning between services.

Each year, Mindworks Surrey handles nearly 11,000 referrals and oversees over 80,000 interventions, making this rollout one of the largest NHS and voluntary sector collaborations.

Lucy Ivankovic, Operations Director for Mindworks Surrey, said: "We're incredibly proud to have reached this milestone together. Most importantly, it means children, young people and families will receive more joined-up care, with professionals able to access the information they need when they need it."

Frank Sims, Chief Executive of Surrey Wellbeing Partnership, said: "This is probably the largest rollout of an NHS digital reporting system into the voluntary sector anywhere. It is going to enable all partners to provide more informed and joined up care."

By January 2027, the remaining Mindworks partners are expected to join the shared patient record, completing the transition to unified operations.
