Man jailed for three years for assaulting woman in Aldershot
The woman lost consciousness and suffered significant bruising and swelling to her right eye
A man has been jailed for three years after he attacked his partner in Aldershot.
Shantua Graham, 32, of Parsons Close, Aldershot, assaulted the woman – who is in her 20s – at an address in Aldershot on 16 August 2024.
Hampshire Police says the woman lost consciousness and suffered significant bruising and swelling to her right eye after he punched her in the face.
The court heard how Graham then attended her home without permission, threatened her, and bombarded her with numerous unwanted texts and calls after they broke up.
Officers launched an investigation and charged Graham with assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm and harassment.
He pleaded guilty and was jailed for three years at Winchester Crown Court on 12 December. Graham is also now subject to a restraining order.
Detective Constable Chloe Walker, from CID North, said: “We want to be clear that nobody – whether that be a woman, man, or child – should ever be subjected to domestic abuse.
“Shantua Graham attacked the woman and left her with significant bruising and swelling to her face. He then harassed her over a five-month period, and his actions caused her fear of violence when she was inside her own home.
“I would like to praise the victim for her bravery throughout the investigation, and I hope she is able to try and move forward knowing he will be behind bars for what he did to her.”
