A man from Basingstoke has been jailed after he assaulted two officers in Fleet.
Hampshire Police were called out to Fleet Road at around 9:30pm on the 8th of March following a report of a man being threatened,
23 year old George Eastman was arrested. He later threatened, bit, kicked and spat at officers at the Holiday Inn Express hotel on Fleet Road.
Eastman, of Eastrop Way, was charged with two counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of his / her duty and pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Tuesday 10 March.
He was jailed for a total of four months.
Hart Police Sergeant, Geoff Hill, said: “Assaults against emergency workers are never part of the job, and will never be tolerated.
“The emergency services are there to help people in their time of need and keep the community safe.
“They should never have to turn up to work in fear of their own safety, or be subjected to threats, aggression and violence.
“I hope this result highlights that this behaviour will not be tolerated in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.”
