A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Ashford last year.

Milad Ghafari, who holds both British and Iranian nationalities, is appearing at Guildford Magistrates Court today.

The charges come after a 27-year-old woman, Laleh Zarejouneghani, was found dead and a young child was discovered with serious injuries at an address on Woodthorpe Road at 1.15pm on 16th January 2025.

Despite the quick response from officers and paramedics, Zarejouneghani was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child, also found at the location, received hospital treatment and was subsequently discharged.

Initially arrested on 16th January 2025, Ghafari has now been charged with murder, attempted murder, and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

According to police, he was known to the victims.
