Man charged with murder of two-year-old girl in Chertsey

A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of the body of a two-year-old girl at a house in Chertsey.
Emergency services responded to reports of a concern for safety at an address in Pyrcroft Road at around 5.40pm on Thursday 25th June.
Upon arrival, they discovered the body of the young girl inside the property.
The investigation, led by Surrey Police's Major Crime Team, is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.
Kevin Kerjean, a 31-year-old French national, has also been charged with rape and sexual assault of a child under 13.
He was remanded in custody after appearing at Guildford Magistrates' Court yesterday (Friday 26th June 2026) and faces another hearing at Guildford Crown Court on Monday 29th June 2026.
Police have stated they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.
Detective Chief Superintendent Jon Groenen said that the situation is "tragic," adding that their thoughts are with the child's family and others affected.
He assured that teams are working diligently on the investigation, and a notable police presence will remain in the area in the coming days.
Residents have been thanked for their cooperation despite the distressing circumstances.
