Man charged after hotel stabbing in Stanwell

22-year-old to appear in court on attempted murder charge today

A 22-year-old man faces a charge of attempted murder after a worker was allegedly stabbed at a hotel accommodating asylum seekers.

Surrey Police were called to the Stanwell hotel in Staines around 6:30pm on Saturday following reports of a stabbing.

The victim, a hotel staff worker in his 30s, was taken to hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition.

Abdifatah Yusuf Adani, a Somali national, has been charged with one count of attempted murder.

Remanded in custody, Adani is scheduled to appear at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

According to Surrey Police, there remains a heightened police presence in the Stanwell area.
