Surrey Fire and Rescue Service says the Lingfield Fire Station has now reopened following extensive redevelopment.

The council says "Lingfield Fire Station, located in the south-east of Surrey, has been modernised to create more sustainable and improved facilities for its crews so they can continue to serve and protect the community. These improvements ensure the service continues to meet the highest standards of safety, support a modern workforce and provide the best service for residents."

The redevelopment includes:

  • Enhanced facilities for operational contaminants management and hygiene.
  • A community space to allow for engagement with residents and partners.
  • New gym facilities to support crews in maintaining their fitness.
  • A second fire and rescue vehicle bay, to allow for additional vehicles.
  • Cleaner, greener and more sustainable designs.

The project is part of Surrey County Council’s wider investment programme across Surrey Fire and Rescue Service sites.

Chief Fire Officer, Dan Quin, said: “Firstly, a huge thank you to the teams working behind the scenes on rebuilding this fire station – this has been one of those long and very complex projects and they have done a fantastic job.

“Also, a big thank you to the residents, councillors and colleagues who joined us for the opening of the fire station. It was great to share the momentous occasion with such a great group of people."

Councillor Tim Hall, Chair of Surrey County Council, said: “What an absolute joy to be a part of the reopening of Lingfield Fire Station – meeting members of the Lingfield community and staff members who worked so hard to get this just right.

“I am pleased that Surrey County Council’s investment is making a long-lasting positive change for our fire and rescue service.”

During the redevelopment, Lingfield’s crews relocated to Oxted Fire Station and have remained steadfast in their role to support the community from the temporary location.
