A man from Surrey has been jailed following a series of domestic abuse crimes, with violent offences spanning a year.

26 year old Paul Furniss, from Lightwater, received a sentence of three years and nine months in jail on 16th March after pleading guilty to multiple charges.

The charges included two counts of assault by beating, two counts of actual bodily harm (ABH), and criminal damage.

The initial report came into police in September 2025 when the victim reported to Surrey Police that she had been chased by Furniss on a motorbike as she drove her vehicle, with him driving alongside her and kicking at the car.

She then disclosed a series of offences, including breaking personal items, making threats against her and inflicting physical violence.

Acting Police Sergeant Stracey from the West Surrey Domestic Abuse Team emphasised the significance of addressing violence against women and girls, stating,

“Nobody should live their life in fear. When a person chooses to abuse someone in a senseless manner over a sustained period, as Furniss did, the impact on that person can be immeasurable."
