Six-time snooker world champion finalist Jimmy White has become the newest patron for the Woking and Sam Beare hospice

Recently, Jimmy opened his brand new sports lounge in Woking, which he'll be using to host charity events to raise money for the hospice.

He spoke to us about how proud he was to be a patron following a tour of the hospice.

"To be honest with you I was just blown away by the staff you know their enthusiasm you know their love for their job that was that was the thing that blown me away you know and to see what they do with the patients.

I've been to many hospices up and down the country. This one in Woking was just such a phenomenal place. it was just like, I was just blown away. And when they asked me to be a patron, I was just absolutely honoured."

Jimmy told us about how he was becoming more connected with the local community since opening the sports lounge

"Having the Jimmy White Sports Lounge and working, I'm sort of getting to know the area and all that. And then when we went and had the visit and then to be asked to be part of it, I was absolutely blown away"

We also heard about what the plan was going forward

"We can use my club to do charity events, i.e. get the lads from the snooker world to come and do some shows and also you know to visit the people in the hospice"
