A man has been seriously injured following a collision between a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a road sweeper on the M25 in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 3:46am today (Wednesday, 14 May), between Junctions 6 and 5 on the anticlockwise carriageway.

The injured man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without due care and attention. They remain in police custody.

As a result of the incident, the M25 anticlockwise remains closed between Junctions 6 and 5 (B carriageway). Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes, as the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.

Authorities are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage that may aid their investigation.

ā€œWe are looking to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam, CCTV, or helmet cam footage that captured all or part of this incident,ā€ said a police spokesperson.

Drivers with relevant footage or information are urged to contact Surrey Police.
