The 15-year-old was found in the area off Lido Road at around 6.10pm on Monday, 19th January. Fire and ambulance crews attended, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family has been informed, and a police cordon remains in place around the wooded area, including Peacock Wood and Wild Wood Adventure, and the car park on Lido Road. The A25 has not been affected.

“We appreciate that this incident will have caused shock and concern amongst our local communities, and we want to reassure you that we are working at pace to establish the circumstances of the boy's death, gather as much evidence as possible and identify those responsible,” White said.

She urged people to avoid speculating on social media while inquiries continue and reminded the public to stay away from the cordoned-off area.
