A member of the public has found a man’s body in Guildford early this morning (9th January), leading police to launch an investigation into his identity and the circumstances surrounding his death.
Officers were called to Hazel Avenue at around 7.15am, where the body was found outside a residential property.
Detectives believe the man is aged between 20 and 50 years old, although investigations are ongoing to confirm his identity and establish the events leading up to his death.
Hazel Avenue has been cordoned off between Lime Grove and Willow Way and remains closed.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Butterworth said: “I understand there will be a lot of concern about what has happened and we have a dedicated team of officers working hard to identify this man and establish the timeline of events that led to his death.
“We are urgently appealing for information which could help our investigation. If you witnessed any suspicious activity in the Bellfields area overnight and into the early hours of this morning, please come forward.
