David Tudor, a former rector in the Diocese of Chelmsford, has been banned from ministry for life following new allegations of misconduct.

This follows a Bishop's Disciplinary Tribunal decision, which upheld a new complaint under the Clergy Discipline Measure 2003 in November.

The tribunal determined that Tudor had committed serious sexual abuse against a 15-year-old during the 1980s while serving as a priest in Surrey.

This marks the second time Tudor has been given a lifetime prohibition, as he was first prohibited in October 2024 after admitting guilt to complaints related to incidents during his time in Southwark.

Tudor had faced two previous complaints under the Clergy Discipline Measure, with penalties resulting from his admissions of guilt.

The National Safeguarding Team, NST, alongside the dioceses of Southwark and Chelmsford, announced in November that The David Tudor Safeguarding Practice Review would extend past the six-month deadline due to new police information.
