Farnborough shoplifter jailed and banned from stores after assaulting staff
The man was sentenced to 23 weeks in jail for theft and assault
A 39-year-old man has been jailed and issued a criminal behaviour order after committing theft and assaulting staff members in Farnborough.
Karl Jennings, from Dunsbury Way, Havant, stole meat from the Aldi store at Farnborough Gate on 11th November.
After leaving without paying, he was pursued by an employee, leading Jennings to throw punches and push another staff member, causing injury.
Police officers arrived and arrested Jennings, who was later charged with theft from a shop, assault by beating, and common assault.
Jennings pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 23 weeks in jail at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 8th October.
In addition to the jail sentence, he received a two-year criminal behaviour order banning him from all Aldi, Boots, and One Stop stores in England and Wales.
PC Nilam Rai of the Farnborough Neighbourhood Policing Team said the behaviour Jennings exhibited has significantly affected local shops, staff, and the community in Rushmoor.
“This action demonstrates our commitment to tackling shoplifting and violence against staff,” PC Rai said.
