Ex- Surrey social worker charged with online child sex offences

Christoper Carkett was arrested while he was employed as an adult social worker at Surrey County Council

A former Surrey County Council social worker from Woking has been charged with multiple online child sex offences.

Christoper Carkett, 66, was charged on 6 February with one count of distributing an indecent photograph/pseudo photograph of a child and three counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo photographs of a child.

He was arrested in April 2025 while serving as an adult social worker at Surrey County Council.

Carkett has been released on bail and is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on 24th March 2026.

A spokesperson for Surrey County Council said: “Christopher Carkett no longer works for Surrey County Council. The alleged offences are reported to have occurred outside the workplace and are not connected with his past employment at the council.”
