Epsom Islamic Centre vandalised
We understand it's the second time in recent months that the mosque has been targeted.
Epsom Islamic Centre says it's been subject to Islamophobic vandalism.
It says it took place at approximately 1:50 a.m. on 14th October 2025, and is the second time in recent months that the mosque has been targeted, following a previous incident on 29th August 2025.
In addition to these acts of vandalism, it says it's community have experienced an increase in Islamophobic and racially motivated abuse in recent months.
The Centre is urging members of the community to remain vigilant and to report any incidents to the local authorities.
In a statement on social media, Epsom Islamic Centre said:
"We extend our sincere gratitude to our neighbours and the wider community for their overwhelming expressions of support and solidarity during this difficult time. We are also grateful to Surrey Police, local councillors, Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, and our Member of Parliament for their continued engagement and assistance."
"We call upon people of all backgrounds to stand together in rejecting hatred and intolerance, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to peace, dignity, and mutual respect. It is only through unity and collective resolve that we can ensure acts of hatred and division have no place in our society."
In a statement on social media, MP for Epsom and Ewell Helen Maguire said:
"I unequivocally condemn the vandalism that has taken place at the Epsom Islamic Centre.
To members of our local Islamic community who are distressed by this event - please be assured that my team and I take your wellbeing and right to worship safely very seriously.
I am in touch with both the Islamic Centre and relevant authorities, and am monitoring the situation closely.
There is no place for Islamophobia in our community, and we should be united in rejecting such hateful acts of prejudice."
