Emergency repairs continue as more than 300 homes Surrey are impacted by a gas outage.

SGN have reported issues in the village of Gomshall after a burst water main entered the network.

The company say that so far 1,100 litres of water have been removed, but they can't turn the gas back on until all the water is gone.

Engineers have now visited each affected property to turn off gas supplies at the meter.

The issue was first reported on Sunday night (12 January) and SGN have provided the following update this morning (13 January):

"We have now visited each affected property to turn off gas supplies at the meter. If you were out when we tried to visit you, please go and speak to our team at Gomshall Village Sports & Social Club, Queen St, Gomshall, GU5 9LY, where we have set up a Customer Centre, and they will arrange for one of our engineers to re-visit.

"Work to extract the water which flooded our gas network is ongoing, and so far we've removed over 1100 litres from our pipes. This work will continue throughout the day.

"We can't turn gas supplies back on until all of the water has been removed from our network, and at the moment it's too early to estimate when that work will be complete.

"We have electric heaters and hot plates for cooking available for those who need them. Please visit our team at the Customer Centre, or call us on 0800 912 1717 if you require additional support.

"We understand it's difficult being without your gas supply, especially in this cold weather, and we're working as hard as we can to resolve the situation."
