Elderly man killed in crash at Fleet services

A woman was also seriously injured

An elderly man has died and a woman was seriously injured after being in a collision with a car which also crashed into three parked cars at a motorway services.

The man aged in his 80s and the woman in her 70s were hit by the blue Ford Explorer in the incident which happened at the southbound services at Fleet on the M3 at 12.44pm on Thursday April 16.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Police were called to a report of a blue Ford Explorer colliding with three parked cars and two pedestrians in the southbound services.

“Both pedestrians – a man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s – sustained serious injuries.

“Sadly the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“His family have been notified.”

Detective Sergeant Gary Doughty, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: “We are now appealing for any witnesses not already seen by police at the scene and anyone with relevant dash cam footage to contact us.”
