Police appeal for witnesses after fatal crash in Effingham

Police in Surrey are seeking witnesses to a fatal collision on the A246 Guildford Road in Effingham that occurred late last night (13 May).

The crash, involving a white BMW and a grey Landrover Freelander, took place around 10.30pm on 13th May.

The fatal accident led to the death of a BMW passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

The driver of the BMW has been arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and will be taken into custody pending recovery from his injuries.

Families of all involved parties have been informed of the incident.

The A246 Guildford Road remains closed in both directions, impacting traffic at the junctions with The Street and Calvert Road.

Motorists are advised to find alternative routes, as road closures are expected to continue for some time while authorities address the situation.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or holds any relevant information, including dash cam footage, to come forward.
