A man whose dashcam captured him driving at 130mph on the A3 has been banned from driving for five years.

Robin Cull, 47, of Claremont Avenue in Woking, originally reported to police that he had been assaulted in an alleged hit-and-run, by the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf, and that the incident had left him with a broken leg.

It initially appeared to Surrey Police officers that Cull was the victim - until they reviewed his dashcam footage.

The footage showed Cull tailgating the driver of the Golf several times, before overtaking them at speed, then waiting for the driver in a lay-by.

When the Golf caught up to him, Cull pulled out in front of them and dropped his speed to lows of 10mph, stopping the Golf and the rest of the traffic.

Cull exited his vehicle as the driver of the Golf was attempting to overtake him again, resulting in a collision between Cull and the Golf.

Police founded the driver of the Golf was not at fault for the collision - whilst Cull was arrested and charged with dangerous driving.

Guildford Crown Court heard officers were "astounded" that Cull had managed to drive in this manner for so long without crashing his car.

Cull pleaded guilty on Tuesday (7 April), and was handed a suspended sentence of 5 months in prison, and ordered to pay more than £1,000 in costs.
