Buses replace trains between Dorking and Horsham due to landslip
Emergency works near Ockley cause rail disruption
A landslip near Ockley has led to rail services being replaced by buses between Dorking and Horsham from Monday 26th January until at least Friday 30th January.
Engineers from Network Rail are carrying out emergency works to stabilise the railway embankment in the area following movement detected in the ground beneath the track on Friday. The repairs require both lines to be closed to ensure safety.
Travel advice for passengers
During the closure, a shuttle bus service will operate between Dorking, Warnham, Holmwood, and Horsham in both directions.
Passengers are advised to check before travelling, allow extra time for journeys, and consult Southern's website for travel updates and ticket acceptance on alternative services.
Lucy McAuliffe, Route Director for Network Rail, said: “We’re really sorry for the disruption this week and the short notice of this closure. Safety for passengers and railway staff has to come first, and we need to act quickly to make sure that the condition of the embankment does not deteriorate further.”
Southern has assured customers that Network Rail’s engineers are working hard to resolve the issue and reopen the line as soon as possible. Passengers are thanked for their patience during the repair works.
