Chertsey man jailed after serious assault at local pub

A Chertsey man has been sentenced following a serious assault at a local pub last summer.
Delaney Reed, a 22-year-old, found himself embroiled in the incident on 1st August 2025 at a pub near London Street, Chertsey.
CCTV footage captured Reed engaging in a heated argument around midnight, which then escalated into violence.
Reed was seen repeatedly punching and kicking another man before briefly leaving the scene.
He then returned, continuing the assault through a gate and onto the road outside.
The victim suffered serious injuries to the face and body as a result.
Surrey Police launched an investigation, which led to Reed's arrest shortly after the review of the CCTV footage.
Reed appeared at Guildford Crown Court on 8th July, where he admitted to the charges of grievous bodily harm.
He received a sentence of six months' imprisonment, suspended for 30 months.
Additionally, Reed was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, undertake up to 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days, and pay a fine of £204.
Investigating officer DC Megan Jarvis emphasised the impact of such violent incidents, "No one should have their night out end in violence. This assault left another man with serious injuries and serves as a reminder of how quickly situations can escalate."
She added that the police work closely with local venues to maintain safety and encouraged the public to report any concerning behaviour to ensure a safer nightlife in Surrey.
