Man charged after van fatally collides with road worker on M23
Vilius Domarkas, 38, now faces court accused of causing death by dangerous driving
A 38-year-old man has been charged after a fatal collision on the M23 resulted in the death of a highways worker.
The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway at Junction 9 shortly before 1am on 8th July when a van hit a 65-year-old man from Kent.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his family has been informed.
Vilius Domarkas, 38, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene and charged the same day with causing death by dangerous driving.
He appeared in Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 9th July, where he was remanded into custody.
Domarkas is scheduled to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 6th August.
Investigation and Police Appeal
The investigation into the collision is ongoing, and Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin stated that support is being provided to the victim's family.
