Car thief jailed for stealing over £171.5k worth of luxury vehicles in Surrey and south London
A 22-year-old from Wallington, has been sentenced to two years and 11 months in prison for stealing high-value vehicles during a series of burglaries across Surrey and south London.
Between July 2024 and October 2025, Liam Carroll targeted homes, taking keys to luxury cars valued at more than £171,500 and driving away with them.
His crime spree included stealing a Mercedes GLB, various BMW models, and a Porsche 911 from addresses in Fetcham, Tadworth, Ewell, Purley, Sutton, and Cheam.
Investigators used forensic, digital, and CCTV evidence to link Carroll to each offence.
Carroll's fingerprints were found at the scene of the Fetcham burglary where a Mercedes GLB, worth over £30,000, was stolen.
In Tadworth, Carroll took a BMW 520D along with wallets containing bank cards and driving licences. Further evidence, including videos on Carroll's phone, connected him to multiple stolen vehicles across several addresses.
A decisive piece of evidence came from CCTV, which captured Carroll at the scene of his crimes, allowing officers to recover some of the vehicles.
However, not all stolen vehicles were recovered, including a Porsche 911 and one of the BMW models.
Investigation officer PC Joe Brown remarked on the complexity of the investigation, which demanded extensive forensic and digital analysis to gather evidence against Carroll.
PC Brown stated, "Carroll repeatedly targeted people's homes, stealing vehicles that victims had worked hard to own and leaving them with the lasting impact of having their homes burgled."
Carroll was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court after pleading guilty to multiple counts of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, and attempted burglary.
He was ordered to pay £228 in costs.
