The Bishop of Dorking is remembering Pope Francis for his 'deep commitment to the poor.'

The 88-year-old died on Easter Monday after suffering a stroke and heart failure - prompting an outpouring of tributes from across the world.

Just hours earlier, he'd blesses Easter Sunday crows at the Vatican, where people have once again flooded St Peter's Square, this time in mourning.

The King has lead the tributes, which have often touched on his strong advocacy for the poor and marginalised.

His Majesty and the Queen say he will be 'remembered for his compassion', while former US president Joe Biden says Francis was 'one of the most consequential leaders of our time.'

The Vatican has released the final burial wishes of the Pope, who decreed in his will that he be buried in St Mary Major Basilica in a simple underground tomb.

It's been confirmed the Prime Minister, and Prince William (on the King's behalf) will attend the funeral on Saturday.

Bishop of Dorking, Paul Davis told us: "He'd often be found in soup kitchens, prisons and just being physically with the marginalised for those whom life was so difficult."

" He was a normal person. I think security at the Vatican at time got quite sort of agitated and anxious because he would go walkabout - that's what made him so loved. How do you understand what other people are going through - you spend time with them, you listen to them and you walk alongside them."

"That sense of just being with - not just talking about those whose lives were so disadvantaged, but being with them - was really powerful."

"He was enormously humble and lived a simple life. He was bold in the way he stood out against injustice and embracing the following of Jesus Christ in his own life and his leadership as best as he could."

"I call myself a baby bishop, I haven't been a bishop for long - but what a great example for someone like me."
