Witness Appeal Following Suspected Hate-Related Assault in Guildford
Police treating midnight attack outside Wetherspoons as potential hate crime.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault in Guildford that is being treated as a hate-related incident.
The attack occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, 22 June, outside the Wetherspoons pub on Bridge Street.
A man is alleged to have approached two men and subjected them to a violent assault. One of the men, in his 20s, required hospital treatment for his injuries.
It has also been reported that homophobic language was used in the lead-up to the assault, prompting police to investigate the incident as a potential hate crime.
Surrey Police are asking for anyone who was in the Bridge Street area around the time of the incident, or who may have relevant CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage, to come forward.
