Arrests after man 'forced into car by men in balaclavas' in Dorking
Five men and three women have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap
Eight people have been arrested following reports a man was forced into a car by balaclava clad men in Dorking.
Surrey Police said the "serious incident" happened on Rough Rew during the early afternoon of 26 April.
Officers have confirmed the man has been safely found after video footage circulated online that appeared to show the victim being forced into a car by two men in balaclavas.
He was been taken to hospital for assessment but it's not believed he sustained life-threatening injuries.
Five men and three women have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to kidnap and linked offences.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Hicks: “Since we received the report yesterday, officers across Surrey Police have been working tirelessly to bring this man safely back to his family. We now have eight people in custody and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the community.
“Our investigation continues to understand the full circumstances of what happened and we would still encourage anyone who has information to please come forwards.
“We know this has been a distressing time for our local community and officers will remain in the area this evening, so please speak to us if you have any concerns.”
