The RSPCA say the body of a dog has been dumped near a Surrey reservoir.

The discovery was made on land near Shaw Drive next to the Queen Elizabeth II Storage Reservoir in Walton-on-Thames.

It is believed the animal was dead before being thrown over railings at the location, which is not accessible to the public.

The RSPCA is now keen to find out more about what happened to the dog before the body was taken to the field.

The dog was spotted on Sunday, March 9, but it wasn’t until Tuesday evening (March 11) that she was retrieved by a member of the public, who managed to climb over to reach body and then take her to a local vet.

RSPCA Inspector Jo Bowling said: “This poor dog looks like it died before it was taken to this location so the body could be disposed of.

“We are appealing for anyone who knows anything about this dog or has information about her owner to contact us.”

The lurcher, who was not microchipped, had a black and tan coloured coat.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the RSPCA appeals line number on 0300 123 8018.
