Additional policing powers granted to officers ahead of Aldershot v Woking match
The order will be in force for a period of 12 hours, starting at 9am on Saturday
Additional powers have been granted to Hampshire police officers to help them keep spectators and the public safe ahead of the Aldershot v Woking football match tomorrow (22 November).
The order will be in force for a period of 12 hours, starting at 9am on Saturday 22 November, and will remain active until 9pm the same day.
The order applies to the designated area shown on the map.
A Section 60aa order will also be in place, covering the same area and duration. This gives officers the power to remove items being used to conceal a person’s identity, such as masks and face coverings.
Dispersal orders allow police to deal with any issues that could impact the safety of those attending the game more effectively and gives officers the power to order a person to leave the area with no return within a specified time period.
Chief Inspector Marcus Kennedy said: “We hope our officers will not need to use any of these additional powers, and that everyone attending the match enjoys the football in an orderly manner, but we will take swift action where necessary.
“Officers will be patrolling the area around the ground and the town centre throughout the duration of the orders to ensure the safety of all football fans and local residents as well as local businesses.
“If you have any concerns at all, please speak to our officers on patrol who will be more than happy to help you.”
