Police given more time to question man over serious sexual assault in Stowmarket

A 38-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault.

Police are continuing to investigate after a woman in her 30s reported being sexually assaulted while out running in Stowmarket.

The incident occurred between 5.45am and 6am on Wednesday (19 November) along a path off Iliffe Way.

A man reportedly pulled the woman to the ground before sexually assaulting her.

On Sunday (23 November), officers arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of attempted rape and sexual assault. He is currently being held at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

Detectives were granted an additional 29 hours to question the suspect by Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Monday (24 November) with the warrant set to expire at 10pm on Tuesday (25 November).
