Two arrested after teenager punched and stabbed in Woodbridge

A member of public was also threatened after trying to intervene

Two men have been arrested after an assault involving a knife in Woodbridge.

Police were called to Old Barrack Road at approximately 8:25pm yesterday, Thursday 20 March, to reports of an altercation between a group of males.

It was reported that a man, aged in his late teens, was initially in his car when he was approached by three men. The victim was punched in the face several times and sustained a single stab wound to his hand.

A member of public was also threatened by the suspects after he attempted to intervene.

The suspects ran from the scene on foot, having also taken the victim’s car keys.

Two men, aged 20 and 36 and both from Woodbridge, were arrested a short time later on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. They have been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they remain.

A third suspect remains outstanding, however detectives believe that the victim and suspects are known to each other. As such, it is being treated as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider community.

The victim attended hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life changing or life threatening.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to contact police. Homeowners with CCTV or doorbell cameras in the area are asked to review their footage around the time of the incident, as is anyone with a dash camera that was driving in the area between 7:30pm and 8.30pm.
