The family of a man who died in a road traffic collision in Otley last month have paid tribute to a "much loved son, brother and dad."

47-year-old Desmond Mowles from Helmingham was killed when a red Volkswagen Polo collided with a white Ford Transit van on the B1079 just before 4:30am on 14 August.

In a tribute issued by the family through Suffolk Police, they said:

“Desmond, or Des as he liked to be known, was a much loved son, brother, dad, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.

“He was one of a kind! He could make you laugh, drive you mad and somehow always be there when you needed him the most.

“He loved his music, his raves, dancing, his pit bikes but most of all his children and his family.

“As a family, we would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals and first responders at the scene that morning who did everything they could to help him. We will always be grateful for the care, compassion and professionalism you showed during such an incredibly difficult time.

“His absence will leave a hole that can never be filled but the memories, the laughter, the music and the love he gave will stay with us forever.

“Fly high, keep dancing, play the music loud, ride the bike and get dirty. You will never be forgotten and you will always be loved.”

Officers are continuing to appeal for any potential witnesses and are asking any motorists driving in the area with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
