Three further arrests made after suspected targeted stabbing in Bury St Edmunds
Police investigating March attack in Moreton Hall make further arrests as enquiries continue
Three further men have been arrested in connection with a serious stabbing in the Moreton Hall area of Bury St Edmunds earlier this year.
Officers detained a 19-year-old man and a 59-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder during searches at addresses in London on Wednesday 5 August.
A third man, aged 51, was also arrested on the same suspicion in the Haverhill area.
All three men remain in police custody while detectives continue their investigation.
The incident happened shortly before 10.15pm on Sunday 22 March, when police were called to reports of a serious assault in Mortimer Road.
A man in his 40s was found suffering from stab injuries and was taken to hospital with wounds described as life-threatening. He remained in hospital for several weeks before being discharged.
Police have said they believe the attack was targeted and that there is no ongoing risk to the wider community.
As part of the investigation, Sebastian Smith, of Radford Road in Lewisham, was charged with attempted murder in early April following enquiries by officers.
Five other men, aged 24, 26, 28 and 47, have previously been arrested in connection with the case. They have since been released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.
