Teen charged with carrying knife in Ipswich school
A 14 year old boy has been charged with possessing a bladed article and making threats to kill at Ormiston Endeavour Academy
A 14-year-old boy from Ipswich has been charged with possession of a bladed article on school premises and making threats to kill.
He appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 17 May and was granted bail. He is due to return to court on 29 May.
On the morning of Friday 16 May police were called just before 8am to reports of a person carrying a knife on a school field at Ormiston Endeavour Academy in Defoe Road, Ipswich.
Officers located the teenage boy on the school field at around 9.30am. The school went into lockdown as a precaution, although the boy had not entered any school buildings.
A knife was seized at the scene. The boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken to Martlesham Police Headquarters for questioning.
Police confirmed the incident was isolated, with no ongoing risk to the public and no injuries reported.
A police spokesperson said, “This is considered an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk at this time and no injuries were suffered.”
