Man who tried to smuggle drugs into Suffolk prison has sentence increased
Attempt to deliver contraband to HMP Highpoint thwarted

A man from South Yorkshire who tried to smuggle drugs and other contraband into a Suffolk prison has had his sentence increased.
Dimitrije Dragovic had initially been sentenced to two years and two months for attempting to smuggle items into HMP Highpoint.
Following intervention by the Attorney General, Ellie Reeves KC MP, the sentence was increased by one year and two months. His total prison sentence is now three years and four months.
The operation involved a drone intended to deliver illegal items, including cannabis, tobacco, and several electronic devices, all seized by police.
Dragovic was tracked from his South Yorkshire home to London and subsequently to Suffolk where Suffolk Constabulary conducted a detailed surveillance operation.
On 14th November 2025, Dragovic checked into a Suffolk hotel under a false name, collected a bag from a car, and was later apprehended after trying to avoid police detection.
Despite discarding the bag and attempting to flee across a river, police dogs captured Dragovic in close proximity to HMP Highpoint.
The Court of Appeal recognised the serious nature of the crime, given its potential impact on prison security.
