Suffolk Owl Sanctuary cancels shows due to bird flu protection zone
Precautions in place as sanctuary remains open to visitors
Last updated 2nd Feb 2026
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary has been forced to suspend their displays after being placed within a 3km protection zone for Avian Influenza.
The sanctuary has made a series of changes to ensure the safety of their owls and visitors.
Indoor bird displays have been suspended for the time being. However, on weekends, visitors can attend species talks at select bird aviaries at 11:30am and 2:30pm.
The centre’s "Come fly with me" encounters are not currently running, but other animal-based experiences are continuing as planned.
The sanctuary’s helpline remains available as usual for advice regarding injured or unwell birds of prey. However, the team may be limited in how they can assist and will triage individual cases to provide help wherever possible.
Visitors are urged to follow strict biosecurity practices on-site, including disinfecting footwear and wheels of mobile chairs using foot mats placed at all entrances to the centre.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary remains open to the public, apologising for any inconvenience caused and thanking visitors for helping reduce the spread of avian flu while protecting their resident birds.
