Man charged after evading police in Great Cornard faces multiple offences

21-year-old arrested after being stopped by Sudbury & Haverhill officers

A 21-year-old man from Sudbury has been charged with various driving and drug offences after being pursued by police in Great Cornard.

The Sudbury & Haverhill Community Policing Team requested a driver stop his car due to suspicious driving on Shawlands Avenue on Saturday 14th February.

Despite officers activating blue lights and sirens, the driver did not comply and was briefly pursued.

He was later found on foot in Queensway and attempted to flee.

Following a short chase on Highbury Way, the man was arrested and taken for questioning at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

William Browning, residing on Cats Lane in Sudbury, faces several charges including possession of a controlled Class B drug, cannabis; driving whilst disqualified; driving a vehicle without third-party insurance; and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Browning initially appeared at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday 16th February and received conditional bail.

He is scheduled to reappear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday 16th March.
