Stowmarket funeral service issues update following 'devastating fire'

A funeral home in Stowmarket has issued an update following what it's describing as a 'devastating fire'.
Emergency services were called to Andrew Bingham Independent Funeral Service on Milton Road South, at around 6.25pm yesterday evening (27/09/25) following reports of a single building fire.
Last night, officers said the road expected to be shut for some time, and urged motorists to avoid the area whilst emergency crews dealt with the scene.
In a statement on Facebook Andrew Bingham Independent Funeral Service said:
"It is with regret that we have to inform you of a devastating fire which has severely damaged our funeral home on Milton Road South.
We would like to reassure all our families that your loved ones are safe and have been respectfully moved with the utmost of care to our nearby premises. We will be in contact with you as soon as we can.
We understand this is very distressing for all our families but we ask you to be patient until we are able to update you with further information. We still have a 24 hour phone line in operation."
It's not clear yet what started the blaze.
We understand no one was injured.
