Seaton Road and Colenis Road affected as investigations continue

Two roads in Felixstowe have been closed due to the emergence of sinkholes.

Seaton Road has been deemed unsafe for vehicles, prompting a traffic barrier to be put in place.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the sinkhole, and repair works have been commissioned to reopen the road as soon as possible.

There is currently no confirmed completion date.

Colenis Road has also been closed and barriers are in position due to a sinkhole related to a sewer issue.

The matter has been referred to Anglia Water.

Concerns have been raised after reports emerged that people are removing the barrier to drive through the area.

Authorities warn that the underground cavity may be much larger than it appears on the surface.

"The barrier is there for a reason, we strongly advise against people removing it,” Suffolk Highways said.
