A woman has been arrested after 35 sheep were killed and another 14 injured in a reported dog attack in Assington Green, near Stansfield.

Police say they were called at 8.09pm on 18 July following a report that a number of sheep had been attacked in a field.

A woman was arrested the next day on suspicion of criminal damage, an animal welfare offence, and an offence of dogs worrying livestock. She was questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and has been bailed until 19 October.

Two dogs were seized by police and remain in kennels.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesperson said: “We understand the impact this has had and enquiries are continuing.”
