Second arrest in Bury attempted murder investigation

A man in his 40s is in a serious by stable condition after he was stabbed earlier this month

A second arrest has been made in connection with an attempted murder investigation following a violent attack in Bury St Edmunds.

Emergency services were alerted on Sunday 22nd March just before 10.15 pm in response to a report of a serious incident in Mortimer Road in the Moreton Hall area.

A man in his 40s was discovered with stab wounds and is currently hospitalised with life-threatening injuries. He remains in serious but stable condition.

The suspects, reported to be five individuals dressed in dark clothing and wearing face coverings, fled the scene following the attack.

Suffolk Police arrested a 38 year old man on Monday (30 March) in Bury St Edmunds on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on bail until 29th June, pending further investigations.

Earlier, on Wednesday 25th March, police arrested a 44-year-old man in south London on the same charge. He was transported to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre and released on bail until 29th May.

Vehicles of Interest

Detectives have seized three vehicles suspected to be connected to the offenders. These include a black Nissan Note, a beige/light-coloured Nissan Note, and a black Nissan Micra.

The public is urged to come forward if they witnessed these vehicles near Mortimer Road on the night of 22nd March, especially anyone who may have dashcam footage.

Uniformed patrols in the area continue to reassure residents as the investigation progresses.
