Busy Needham Market road closes for two months
Starting today the B1078 Barking Road will be shut 24/7 until the 24th of April
Essential drainage works are set to get underway today (23 February) in the Needham Market area, resulting in a full road closure for two months until the 24th of April.
The closure of the B1078 Barking Road (Needham Market) and Needham Road (Barking) will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The works aim to prevent surface water flooding issues.
Vehicles will be diverted along alternative routes, including the B1078, B1113, A1308, B1115, B1078 and vice versa.
The drainage works involve deep excavations and the installation of new pipes and carriageway gullies, requiring closure for the safety of highway users and construction operatives.
Access for residents and businesses within the closure area will be maintained from at least one end at all times. However, there might be delays when deep excavations are ongoing to ensure safety.
Residents requiring access to the GP Surgery and Pharmacy should stop at the closure point and inform traffic management staff of their destination for entry permission, potentially requiring an escort. Access from the south (Barking side) is available as works are chiefly located to the north, near Needham Market.
People are advised to allow extra time for their journeys during this period.
