Jimmy's Farm and Wildlife Park says it's deeply saddened to announce the loss of Hope, the much-loved polar bear, who died after a vital dental procedure.

The operation was carried out by a highly experienced team of seven veterinary surgeons, two veterinary nurses and members of the animal care staff.

The Park said: "Despite their best efforts, sadly Hope did not recover. This procedure was undertaken as part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the highest possible welfare standards for the animals in our care. While the outcome was not what any of us had hoped for, it reflects the reality that, in zoological and conservation work, animals often require complex veterinary interventions to maintain their quality of life.

"Hope’s passing is a profound loss for our park and our conservation community. Polar bears are an iconic species facing significant threats in the wild due to climate change and habitat loss.

"By caring for Hope we were able to contribute to raising awareness of their plight and engaging visitors with the urgent need for global conservation efforts. We would like to thank the veterinary professionals who gave their utmost to care for Hope, as well as our dedicated animal team who worked with compassion and commitment every day.

"We remain steadfast in our mission to protect and conserve wildlife, both here in Suffolk and around the world. Hope will be remembered not only as a remarkable animal who touched countless lives but also as an ambassador for her species."
