Essex & Suffolk Water has completed a substantial £3 million upgrade by installing an 8km water pipeline in Framlingham.

This pipeline runs from Benhall Water Treatment Works to Framlingham Tower, markedly enhancing the resilience and reliability of water supplies throughout Suffolk.

Included in the investment is a newly constructed pumping station at Benhall, providing a direct supply line to Framlingham.

This development aims to bolster water supply reliability during periods of high demand, ensuring Framlingham Tower operates more efficiently.

Through this upgrade, customers will experience fewer pressure drops and reduced supply interruptions.

Additionally, the new pipeline helps future-proof the local water network, accommodating Framlingham's growing community and increased demand on infrastructure.

The improved network diminishes the necessity for water tankers during peak demand, leading to less disruption and fewer tankers on the road.

Essex & Suffolk Water Project Manager, Shawnie Lark Shaffer, emphasised the significance of completing this pipeline.

“Framlingham has been experiencing increasing pressure on its water network for several years, particularly during peak demand.

"Completing this pipeline is a major step forward in securing a reliable supply for customers.

"The work we’ve carried out will give the tower the resilience it needs to operate effectively all year round.”
