A 43-year-old man from Newmarket, has been sentenced to a 74-month jail term for drug offences.

Kayode Braithwaite of Manderston Road, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on 30th March and pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, specifically cocaine.

The investigation into Brathwaite began in March 2024 when officers discovered a package in a back garden containing 80 wraps of crack cocaine.

Forensic evidence linked him to the package.

During the same period, authorities were probing a drugs line that was distributing Class A drugs in Newmarket.

Further investigations revealed that Brathwaite was the phone line holder for this operation between July 2024 and October 2024.

PC Matthew Asquith commented on the case, saying: "Due to the overwhelming evidence presented by the team at court, a guilty plea was entered.

Brathwaite’s criminal activity was only to make money by causing misery to others.

This strong sentence should form a clear reminder to anyone dealing in drugs that it will only end in a prison sentence for you.

We will continue to robustly police the county to tackle this type of crime, which ultimately brings harm to our community.”

Authorities encourage those who suspect drug activity to report it via their website, call 101, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously online or through the phone.
