The car of 78-year-old Christine Murton, who went missing on 12th November, has been found parked in a retail park in Pinewood after being left there for several weeks.

Christine, from Rushmere St Andrew, was last seen mid-morning on 12th November when she left her house. Suffolk Police confirmed her movements on the day, capturing her shortly after 10:40am on a door camera walking along Chatsworth Drive in Rushmere St Andrew and later on Purdis Farm Lane.

Yesterday (19th November), police released additional CCTV footage showing Christine walking along a footpath in Nacton village behind Amberfield Drive heading towards Decoy Wood at around 2:45pm on the afternoon she disappeared.

Detective Superintendent Tom Pearse confirmed that Christine’s blue Toyota Yaris had been located but clarified that the vehicle may have been parked there for some time.

“The car had been parked at the retail park for a number of weeks,” Det Supt Pearse said.

“We understand that Christine had been unsure where it had been left, and one line of enquiry was that she may have been retracing her steps to locate the vehicle.”

Searches today have concentrated on woodland pathways and walking routes in and around Decoy Wood and Nacton village to assist in the effort to find Christine.

Significant search efforts are being carried out by Suffolk Police officers, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SulSAR), DK9 Search and Rescue charity, and the Coastguard. Drones, the police helicopter, and specialist trained dogs are being utilised in the operation.

Det Supt Pearse thanked the public for their support and urged caution for anyone considering their own search following recent rain that made some areas hazardous.

He added: “We continue to ask residents to check their gardens, sheds, and outbuildings and to review their CCTV for any footage that may capture Christine’s subsequent movements.

“We ask dog walkers to be attentive when walking in woodland, near watercourses, and wetlands and to report any information that may assist police.”

Christine is described as white, of slim build, approximately 5ft 7ins tall, with short, dark hair. She was wearing a purple jacket, blue trousers, glasses, and carrying a large shoulder bag at the time she went missing.

Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is urged to contact Suffolk Police quoting CAD 257 of 12 November.
