A man who stole ready meals from an elderly man in Newmarket has been sentenced to a week in jail.
Michael Majewski, 36, who was previously of Thompson Road, Griston, Norfolk, admitted to the theft during an appearance at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on 5th January.
The theft was reported on 2nd February 2025 and involved food worth approximately £70 that had been provided by the victim’s daughter, and place in a freezer in a communal area where the victim, in his 80s, lived.
Majewski pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to seven days in prison, which will run concurrently with an existing sentence.
He is currently serving a seven-year prison term for aggravated burglary, attempted burglary, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stemming from offences committed in February 2025.
PC Goreham said: “Majewski’s offending and existing sentence shows he cares little for the law or for other’s property, but to steal the meals of an elderly man really is deplorable.
I’m pleased justice has been served and the victim and his family were able to find out who was responsible.”
Majewski was also ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge.
